The Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse continues its special public lecture series, the IAST Distinguished Lectures in the Social Sciences, given by internationally renowned scholars on a theme of interest to all concerned citizens.

  • September 24: First Lecture: Svante Pääbo, anthropologist from Max Planck Institute, talked on "Our Evolutionary Lineage"
  • November 5: Second Lecture: Janet Currie, Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, talked on "The influence of families on the life outcomes of children"
  • December 3: Third Lecture: Emmanuel Todd, historian, anthropologist, demographer, sociologist and political scientist from INED Paris, talked on "Globalization and the changing nature of families"
