Biography

Margot was a research fellow in sociology, interested in the nexus of religion and politics. Her research examines questions of group consciousness, class cleavages, faith-based activism and citizen engagement of minority groups. Her book projet looks at the politics of respectability of Muslim leaders in France and unpacks the subtle trade-offs these leaders need to negotiate between political pressures for a ‘civil Islam’ and intra-community expectations for ‘religious authenticity’.
