Biography

Gonçalo was a Research Fellow at the IAST. His research explores the interplay between the theories of kin selection and sexual selection. Through the use of mathematic models, he aims to understand how kin selection and sexual selection interact to shape the behaviour and other phenotypical traits of a diverse range of animal species, including humans. He is particularly interested in providing a theoretical framework that empiricists can use to test new hypotheses. He received a PhD in Evolutionary Theoretical Biology from the University of St Andrews.
