Jordanna Matlon is the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Scholarly Book Award for “A Man among Other Men: The Crisis of Black Masculinity in Racial Capitalism.” This prize is the most prestigious publication award in Sociology. this prize is in addition to others: John Ruggie awar, the ASA Economic Sociology Section book award. This book has won 12 awards to date!

Jordanna is an Associate Professor at the School of International Service at American University. During the 2023-2024 academic year she is a visiting fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse, where she was also a postdoctoral research associate. She received her PhD in Sociology from UC Berkeley.
