Biography
Sébastien Pouget is a Professor of Finance at the University of Toulouse Capitole (UTC) and a member of the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) and the Toulouse School of Management (TSM). He has been a Visiting Professor at Chapman University (2022-2023), New York University - Shanghai (Spring 2015), and Princeton University - Bendheim Center for Finance (2010-2011). He began his career as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Georgia State University - Robinson College of Business (2002-2005). His research focuses on the inefficiencies that can arise in financial markets due to investors' irrationality, speculative bubbles, information asymmetries, and moral hazard. He studies these dysfunctions using approaches from economics, management, psychology, and history. His research aims to propose solutions to improve financial markets' design, regulatory interventions, and socially responsible investment policies. His work has been published in renowned international academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Econometrica, Management Science, and the Review of Economic Studies. Sébastien Pouget led the TSE-Partnerships Foundation (TSE-P) from 2018 to 2021. He has headed the TSE Sustainable Finance Center since January 2024 and resumed his role as director of TSE-P as of July 2024. He is also a member of the High Committee for Financial Certification (since 2021) and the Scientific Council (since 2023) within the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF).
