Abstract
z-Tree has been a standard software for running economic experiments. It would not be wrong to attribute part of its success to its simple and intuitive design. However, when it comes to flexibility, the software is arguably not as strong. In this paper, we focus on specific issues that hinder the text modification and translation in z-Tree. Moreover, we present a software that we have built, aiming to externalize part of the text-editing process. Our software allows users to modify their text independently of the coding process by enabling them to create language files which can be integrated into a z-Tree treatment file. zBrac is particularly useful for translations of treatment files in z-Tree, reducing the time it takes to replicate experiments and to collaborate over treatment files.
