Biography
Nicholas Crawford is a historian specializing in early American history and the British Atlantic world with particular interests in slavery, health, law, and political economy. His current book project, "Sustaining Slavery: Provisioning and Scarcity in the British Caribbean, c.1775-1834," examines how logistical and conceptual concerns related to human necessity—in particular the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and medical care for slaves and other subjects—shaped the governance of the British West Indian colonies from the American Revolution to Emancipation. He received a PhD in History from Harvard University in 2016.
